Socked Under

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I’ve been snowed under before, but today we were socked under.  Our long-awaited Donegal Sock Yarn from Handpainted Knitting Yarns arrived late yesterday, and while we were putting it on the shelf we received the latest color pack of Tofutsies and a shipment of Maizy!  I’ve finished my sock from Donegal Sock Yarn and will get a picture up as soon as I can.  Off to sticker more yarn!

I’m driving myself crazy — short trip!

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I’ve been trying to create a new sock pattern for the HPKY Donegal Sock yarn that’s due in this week or next.  I really like the yarn, and I wanted to come up with something special.  So far all my trial stitches have worked out, but they don’t complement the yarn the way I had in mind.   I am seriously thinking of doing a plain sock and letting the yarn speak for itself.  Heaven knows I’d get to wear them sooner that way!  Two more rounds with this pattern, and it’s decision time!

How Chic!

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

I spent a good part of today filing new patterns that just arrived.  Most of them were from Chic Knits, and I think I’m in love!  The styles are so wearable and most of the designs have additional options.  I have fallen in love with “Twist.”  It’s shown with a hood, but I think I’ll knit it with the collar option instead.   Something really soft…Hmmmm. Maybe an alpaca in a soft color.

Indecision

Donegal Sock Yarn from HPKY is due in any day, and I want to knit sample socks from the advance skein I have:

Do I want to make one of Cat Bordhi’s designs from New Pathways for Sock Knitters, or do I try to invent a new one of my own?  I like this yarn so much I can’t decide what I want most!  Pacing the floor hasn’t helped.  Neither has working on my 4 other projects!!

I know what I’ll end up doing — I’ll wind up doing both.  Now if I could only decide which way I want to go first…..

Winners!! — Showdown at Sock Hill

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Howdy!  We have a tie, folks!  Susan F. and Mary Alice O. are the winners of Showdown at Sock Hill.  Yeah, them!

Each of them will receive 2 skeins of Tofutsies graciously donated by SouthWest Trading Co. and 1 skein of her choice from HearthStone Knits.

Happy sock knitting, y’all!

Wedding shawl blocked!

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Finally, finally, finally!!! I recovered from Market enough to block Daughter’s wedding shawl. Remember it? It’s been soooo long since I mentioned it because (hanging head in shame) I hadn’t blocked it yet.

Last weekend I pulled out my trusty old set of blocking wires and had at it. Voila!

The edges look at little wonky because it is laying on my carpet (Husband changed the background color).  Daughter is very pleased with it.  I’m so happy!  Now if only I could improve my photography!!
