They fit!!

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Hope all of you had happy holidays!  Our Christmas was lovely and full of family, food, and fun.  That’s what counts.

I’m happy to report that all the Christmas socks fit and were received with joy.  Hopefully they’re warming toes already.

Happy New Year!

It’s beginning to knit a lot like Christmas!

Fifteen days to go before the big day, so I thought I better stop for a breath and take stock of my gift knitting.

The socks are in good shape: 4 finished and one just past the heel of sock #2.  SIL’s (Son-In-Law’s) socks out of Socrates from Alpaca With a Twist turned out great (finally).  They feel as soft as they look.  I gave up on finding a way to make the heel “cushy”.  Maybe I’ll give that another try when not under the Christmas gun.

That’s all the gift knitting I had planned to do — then I looked through Interweave Knits Winter 2008.  The Pfeiffer Falls Hooded Scarf on page 46 is just too perfect for Sister.  It’s a combo muffler and hood plus the muffler ends have pockets!  She walks a lot (even in winter) and loves having handy pockets for her keys and cell phone.  I’ve finished 2/3 of the muffler section, and really like the way it looks.  Kathmandu Aran (Queensland) in a color that reminds me of stone/earth (not romantic sounding, but truly beautiful) will be perfect with her gray coat or brown leather jacket.  Hopefully, I’ll have it finished before she arrives on Dec. 23.

Wish me luck — or just more time to knit!
