About Me
I’m the owner of HearthStone Knits, a local yarn shop in Saint Louis, Missouri. This blog is both my voice and the voice of the shop. To learn more about the shop, please check out our website. To learn more about me and my love affair with knitting and crocheting, forge ahead.
My personal fiber history began in childhood. My mother taught me both skills when I was young enough that I don’t remember learning. Mom is gone now, so I have to guess I was around five or so. That means I have over 50 years of needlearts experience. (How did that happen!) I’m so glad Mom had a chance to see what her gift of those lessons has meant to me.
Today my life is constant stream of knitting projects with moments stolen for crochet whenever I can sneak them in. Between knitting models for the shop and designing patterns for Knit ‘N Style Magazine it’s hard to complete any personal knitting. That’s my excuse for why I usually have a frightening number of works in progress! My Ravelry account (gnittinguru) doesn’t list a fraction of those UFOs.
The act of knitting soothes me; the act of designing excites me; and the act of problem solving for customers inspires me. I can’t imagine what other pursuit could provide that combination, and I love my vocation! I hope you enjoy sharing it with me.
Hoping all your yarns are tangle free!
